How long have you been involved in RAYHA activities? *

4 years

What qualifications, including special skills or experience, would you bring to the position of Board Member? *

I manage large scale commercial construction projects in my professional life and many of my career skills are directly applicable to the board member responsibilities. Budget management is an essential skill that is part of my daily life, which will greatly benefit the board. My communication and collaboration skills are well developed and well suited for the hockey board settings. I also have an open mind, and am able to work with others with different perspectives to arrive at the best outcome. Among all the other unique skills that I feel will benefit the board, the one that I feel is the most unique and helpful is my willingness to learn new things.

Why are you seeking a position on the RAYHA Board? *

I enjoyed being a part of the board this past year in my first year helping out, and learned a lot about the inner workings of the association. My year of experience spurred further interest from me personally, and the main reason I want to be a part of the board is help ensure to the best of my ability a positive experience for all the kids and families that are part of RAYHA.

Ryan Twardowski

How long have you been involved in RAYHA activities? *

Board member for 6 years.

What qualifications, including special skills or experience, would you bring to the position of Board Member? *

My name is Ryan Twardowski, I have been involved and proud to call myself a Raider to some degree or another for over 30 years. My hockey playing days started at a young age here at Roseville, this is where i was able to have the time of my life playing travel hockey and meeting kids that i am still grateful to call friends today! I also played 3 years on the Roseville Varsity team, during a time when Roseville hockey was at its finest, winning a conference championship and playing in multiple section final games. After high school I played Jr hockey for the White Bear Lakers, there I was part of a National Championship team. Since hanging the skates up I have been an automotive technician/ owner of Ryan's Automotive and Truck.   My more recent involvement with RAYHA has been watching my 2 boys play. Broden is a Bantam this year and Nolan was on our State tournament A Peewee team which I was grateful to be a part of and coach. I have been fortunate to be able to coach both of them for multiple years now and hope I can in years to come. I also coach them on their baseball teams as well. I have been serving on the RAYHA board for many years now as the Mite 4 Director, Squirt Director, peewee director, bantam director, and player and development director and was part of a board restructuring committee which i believe made a lot of strides toward a smoother operating program. This past years I have been part of helping run our tryout process also. Being involved has been a ton of fun and enjoyable experience !  I would like to stay active in RAYHA as a coach, as part of this board. My goal is to see a smile on every kids face with fun and winning attitude. I want every kid the the program to have the same experience and success as i had. I would appreciate your vote so i may have the privilege to continue in helping this become a better, thriving and flourishing RAYHA ! Thank You for your consideration !

What qualifications, including special skills or experience, would you bring to the position of Board Member? *

I have been coaching young athletes since I was 15 years old and I really enjoy watching children learn and grow in their confidence and their abilities. I would like to use my passion for coaching to the goalies in Roseville. I see a need and I think I could help in a small way.

Why are you seeking a position on the RAYHA Board? *

I would like to improve the experience for goalies and goalie parents in the RAYHA organization. We need more goalies to back up the awesome skaters here, there is a need for an organized and consistent approach so that all goalies feel supported and encouraged to grow and be the best they can be.

Gretchen Hopeman

How long have you been involved in RAYHA activities?

For the past seven years, I have dedicated a significant huge part of my life to Roseville Hockey, and I feel I have been fortunate to have made a positive impact on the program. I have served as a team manager for my children’s respective teams, revamped board structure, navigated the association through COVID and PPE loans, helped grew and the association launch RAYHA’s social media campaign, and actively ran the social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) for five years. For the past four years, I have had the honor of being your Roseville Area Youth Hockey President.

What qualifications, including special skills or experience, would you bring to the position of Board Member?

I am a very outgoing, extroverted person who loves to be a part of the solution. I see serving on the board as a way to help RAYHA continue to strive to be an incredible experience for the families involved, and especially for the student athletes participating. I am a leader, I am enthusiastic, accountable, creative and innovative. I am not afraid to speak my mind, or to roll up my sleeves and get involved wherever help is needed. I feel that one of my biggest strengths is my ability to get others involved, and to inspire others to help continue to make RAYHA even better. Knowing that my ideas may not always be the best ideas, I am not afraid to try new things, and to listen to everyone at the table before determining the best course of action. I have learned an abundance over the past four years about Roseville hockey, district 2 hockey, and Minnesota hockey. I truly in my heart have the intention to try to make it the best experience for every kid playing Roseville hockey.

Why are you seeking a position on the RAYHA Board?

I am very passionate and proud when it comes to RAYHA. When I first joined the board, I wanted to challenge myself with a new experience. I joined because my boys loved hockey and I thought I could help make it better for everyone.  I have since found myself loving the game and the people just as much as they do. I realize how hockey is so much more than just a game - it's a way of life. The hockey community, and specifically this hockey community is simply amazing. I have found life long friends through being a part of these amazing boards, through my boys’ teams, and by being your President. I promise to give 110% when I commit to another term on the board. I am doing this solely to make sure everyone in RAYHA has an incredible experience and to leave RAYHA better for having been a part of it. After all, we aren’t just playing hockey - we are teaching our kids life lessons.

How long have you been involved in RAYHA activities? *

We have been involved with RAYHA for 7 years. Three of my children play for RAYHA at three different levels. Board member during the 20/21 season as the Coaching Certification/ Safe Sport director. Board member during the 21/22 season as the Goalie Director and the 8U Director

What qualifications, including special skills or experience, would you bring to the position of Board Member? *

The number one thing I bring to the board is my experience in working with youth. I have worked 22 years professionally with youth, in every aspect there is. I understand how, why and what makes youth tick, not only as young athletes but as youth in general. I coached youth rugby for years and understand what it takes to be a great coach leader and mentor to young athletes. I bring strong leadership, a hard work ethic, and dedication to communicating and providing the best possible outcomes to those who are in our hockey association. I am able to see the big picture and break it down into to workable pieces to achieve the goal at hand.

What qualifications, including special skills or experience, would you bring to the position of Board Member? *

As a hockey mom for the last 8 years, and a manager for most of those seasons, I understand the complexity of a hockey program. There are always moving targets and a need to be flexible while making decisions that may impact many. I have corporate experience as a crisis response, risk manager, and program/project management.

Why are you seeking a position on the RAYHA Board? *

This past season may have been the most challenging season ever. There were tough decisions that needed to be made and situations that needed to be escalated to the board.

Each situation was unique but every one of them seemed to always end with a suggestion to apply for a board position. I think it’s important to be able to make quick decisions, but also understand the impact and create a plan around the decisions. I think it’s also important to have representation from all team levels in shaping the future of RAYHA.

I am seeking a board position to help continue to program, ask thoughtful and meaningful questions before decisions are made, add representation from a manager and C-level player perspective, and provide an amazing experience to our players!

What qualifications, including special skills or experience, would you bring to the position of Board Member? *

I have nearly 20 years of corporate experience in customer service and operations. I specialize in continuous improvement and data analytics and believe I can help support this board with my time and talent. Specifically in the Roseville area being an active coach I have become closely tied with many families that I would love to represent. My family is new to the association and the area and I would bring a fresh perspective with new ideas. I have played hockey all of my life and have a passion for kids to benefit from hockey as much as I did growing up.

How long have you been involved in RAYHA activities? *

My son has played for 2 season at RAYHA and I have coached for one season at RAYHA.

Why are you seeking a position on the RAYHA Board? *

Settling down in the Roseville area and raising a family has given me a strong drive to immerse in my community and work to make it better for our children. Coaching in Mite 1/2 this past season I was able to see how much impact hockey can have on young kids and how critical it is to have strong leaders supporting them. I feel my skill set and lifetime of playing/coaching hockey makes me an ideal candidate to guide the players of RAYHA to be strong lifetime ambassadors on and off the ice.

Winny Brown

What qualifications, including special skills or experience, would you bring to the position of Board Member?

I currently own and operate Os Hockey Training, an all-female hockey training company specializing in both on and off ice hockey development. I have a Communications background and 30+ years of coaching and playing experience. I have been a board member for the last four seasons as the Mite Director.

How long have you been involved in RAYHA activities?

I played in the RAYHA youth association growing up and have also been involved in hockey development with RAYHA for the last 6 years.  We have two boys, Weston (8) and Branson (7), who were Mite 3 and 4 players this past season.  My husband Justin and I coached both our boys' Mite teams this past season, and also assisted with on-ice skill development on both the boys' and girls' side.

Why are you seeking a position on the RAYHA Board?

I am looking to give back to the program, help grow program numbers, continue to build on the programs winning tradition, and provide guidance for the future direction of the association.

My experience with RAYHA is with a daughter, being a board member, I would like to help promote girl’s hockey so we can grow RAYHA’s program. I think it will be a great experience being on the inside of the organization and helping continue to create a program where kids and parents want to be.

What qualifications, including special skills or experience, would you bring to the position of Board Member? *

I have been involved with RAYHA as a parent since 2015, a team manager since 2017, and spent this past season as the 10U level director and a non-voting board member. I have a skater who will be a first year 12U next year, and a goalie who will be a second year peewee. Having both a son and daughter in the travel program, gives me insight into the strengths and challenges of both sides of the travel program. Additionally, I have experience serving on boards, in leadership positions, and as legal counsel, for several nonprofits and community organizations.

I have been involved as a parent since 2015, and have managed teams since 2017.

Why are you seeking a position on the RAYHA Board? *

My family has benefited from being part of the RAYHA community for the past 7 seasons. I am seeking a seat on the board to give back to the association that has been so important to my kids. With the end of the SPR coop at the beginning of this past season, we are at a critical moment for the girls program. I am committed to helping find a solution that creates stability and allows our girls to play hockey at the levels that match their skill sets, while continuing to be part of the RAYHA family.

How long have you been involved in RAYHA activities? *

I’ve been connected with RAYHA for almost 6 years now and have been active for 4.

Why are you seeking a position on the RAYHA Board? *

Each year I grow closer to the families I’ve met through RAYHA and want to help the board connect with new families while engaging current RAYHA families. This past year I helped our DEI committee put on a summer BBQ event and helped build the DEI position throughout the year. I would like to help RAYHA lead Minnesota Hockey in making hockey a sport for everyone. I’d also love to continue growing our association by helping to develop new and innovative outreach strategies. To keep it short, I feel like I have a lot to give to the board and to RAYHA, and being on the board would give me a chance to give back. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Jake Remitz

  1. What qualifications, including special skills or experience, would you bring to the position of Board Member?

I have been on the Roseville Area Youth Hockey Association board since 2021. Last year I fulfilled the role of Webmaster and helped families with Crossbar assistance and site updates, while participating in board meetings and offering my perspective as a father of three hockey players for the girls’ and the boys’ programs. I have helped coach Roseville hockey for all three of my children, and also coached their teams in soccer. My day job is a “DevOps Manager” where I manage teams of technical people to build infrastructure and applications in “the cloud.”

How long have you been involved with RAYHA activities?

I have been involved with RAYHA for four years.

Why are you seeking a position on the RAYHA Board?

I am seeking a position on the board to make a difference wherever I can. To help kids and families get the most out of the Roseville hockey program and help make it the best that it can be. I’m an enthusiastic coach and committed to making the most of the ice time for the kids, but my knowledge on the ice can only be so much. I’d like to help off the ice to help grow the program.  I have a daughter and two sons that are a part of the association so I offer a perspective for both the boys’ and girls’ program.
